Hi, I’m Mia, an economics major at West Valley College in Saratoga, planning to add business as a second major. I work as a server in San Jose while going to school full time, so I’m used to juggling a busy schedule and staying calm when things get hectic. Almost three years in retail and food service have taught me how to listen to people and solve problems quickly. I’m looking for an internship or externship where I can learn how businesses really run and put those skills to work.
What I bring
I hold myself to a high standard. I’m a bit of a perfectionist, so I’d rather catch a small mistake myself than have a customer or client find it for me. When something gets hard, I keep working until it’s solved. Working 4–5 shifts a week while taking 15 units has taught me to plan ahead and follow through.
I also care about how people feel when they leave. In restaurants and retail, the guests who come back are the ones who felt looked after. I want to bring that same attention to client relationships, because happy clients are good for business.
Outside of work and class, I play guitar, read, and look for ways to stay active. I’m very social and get energy from conversation, which is a big part of why I enjoy working with people.
